Meet our legal team.
Yengwayo Valithuba Ntshona, is the founding member of the firm. He holds a B.PROC from the University of Fort Hare (1992) and an LLB from the University of Cape Town (1995). Yengwayo specialises in commercial and property law and is a qualified Conveyancer. He has almost 30 years of legal experience in legal and commercial firms.
He gained vast experience in commercial and property law during his 4 years in the commercial and property department at legal firm Jowell, Glyn & Marais Inc. He then joined The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd in their Properties division for 5 years where he gained an in depth understanding of the commercial considerations of property development, property law relating to sectional title schemes and township development, and real security law. During his 13 year tenure as the Group Legal Advisor of Vuwa Investments (Pty) Ltd, Yengwayo honed his skills in negotiating and structuring transactions and, as legal advisor to the Group, had to provide advice in relation to the entire group of companies.
His legal expertise combined with his commercial experience allow him to provide sound legal and commercially minded advice and solutions.
Elmari Barnard holds a B.Proc from the University of Pretoria (1994).
Elmari specialises in corporate and commercial law, finance law and financial services regulation and has almost 30 years of legal and banking compliance experience.
She gained vast experience in company and commercial law during her 10 years at legal firm Jowell, Glyn & Marais Inc where she also established and headed up their Regulatory department focusing on competition law and company secretarial work.
She joined The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd in 2006. During her 11 years at the bank she held various positions in their Corporate and Investment Banking Credit Legal department and their Group Compliance department. As Head of Credit Legal, Head of CIB Compliance SA and Head of the Group’s Sanctions Desk, Elmari gained a thorough understanding of the legal, security and regulatory risks involved in banking and finance transactions.
